RPM Q2 Compared: Widebody vs Flat-Top Hybrid vs Rounded Hybrid vs Elongated
Last updated: September 2026
Four Q2 shapes, all 16mm, all the same price. The choice is shape, not thickness.
The best RPM Q2 for most players is the Q2 Widebody 16mm. It scores 9.2 overall — our highest-rated RPM — with the highest twist weight in the family (6.9), the lowest swing weight (107) and the best forgiveness (9.1). Take the Q2 Hybrid Flat Top (9.05) if you want a middle shape with more reach than the widebody, the Q2 Elongated (8.9) for maximum reach and serve leverage, and the Q2 Hybrid Rounded Top (8.8) only if you want the hottest, fastest Q2 and will accept the lowest control and forgiveness scores in the line. All four are 16mm, all list at $249.99, and all cost $212.49 with code PRH at RPM (15% off).

Why the Q2 line matters
The Q2 is RPM's full-foam performance line, tuned for torsional stability, a broad sweet spot and a firm connected feel. RPM positions it for power, stability on off-center contact, and predictable behaviour from baseline drives to fast kitchen exchanges — and by our scores the Q2 Widebody is the best paddle RPM currently sells.
Unlike a lot of families, the Q2 shapes are not simply a control version and a power version of one mould. Every Q2 on this page is 16mm, so thickness is not the variable. Shape is. That makes this an unusually clean decision once you know what each outline costs you.

The shape ladder, and what each step costs
Read the twist weights in order and the family explains itself: 6.9 on the widebody, 6.3 on the flat-top hybrid, 6.2 on the rounded hybrid, 6.1 on the elongated. Forgiveness follows in lockstep — 9.1, 8.8, 7.8, 8.3 — and so does control at 8.7, 8.5, 7.5 and 8.1.
Swing weight moves the other way: 107 on the widebody, 108 on the rounded hybrid, 112 on the flat-top hybrid, 114 on the elongated. So the widebody is both the most stable Q2 and the fastest one, which is why it wins outright rather than winning a trade-off.
Spin is close across the three we have measured — 2,310, 2,294 and 2,290 RPM. Nobody should choose a Q2 on spin.
Two hybrids, and they are not interchangeable
This is the part of the line that confuses people. The Q2 comes in two hybrid shapes, and the only difference in the name is the top of the paddle — but they play differently enough that we score them 0.25 apart.
The flat top hybrid is the sensible one. 6.3 twist weight, 8.8 forgiveness, 8.5 control: it behaves like a slightly longer widebody, and at 9.05 it is the second-best Q2 we have rated.
The rounded top hybrid is the specialist. It has the most power (9.4) and pop (9.3) of any Q2, and the least control (7.5) and forgiveness (7.8) by a wide margin. It is fast and it is hot, and it will punish contact you did not fully control. One more thing worth knowing: RPM's product page and our lab figures disagree on it — RPM lists 110.5 swing weight and 6.5 twist weight where our numbers say 108 and 6.2. We publish both rather than pick one.
Best Q2 for most players
Q2 Widebody 16mm. It has the best score in the family in every category that matters for doubles — control, spin, forgiveness and hand speed — and it is the highest-rated RPM paddle on this site at 9.2. The 6.9 twist weight is the highest in the line and the 107 swing weight is fast enough for any format.
If you do not know which Q2 to start with, start here and stop reading.
Best Q2 for a middle shape
Q2 Hybrid Flat Top 16mm. More reach than the widebody, more face than the elongated, and it keeps 8.8 forgiveness where the elongated drops to 8.3. At 9.05 it is a genuinely strong paddle rather than a compromise — take it if the widebody looks too broad but you are not ready for an elongated.
Best Q2 for reach and serves
Q2 Elongated 16mm. The 16.5" length gives the most leverage on serves and overheads, and it posted the highest serve speed in the group at 61.6 MPH. The trade is a 6.1 twist weight, 8.3 forgiveness and the slowest hands here at 8.8.
Buy it for reach, not because it looks like the more aggressive paddle — the rounded hybrid actually hits harder.
Best Q2 for pure speed and pop
Q2 Hybrid Rounded Top 16mm. Highest power and pop in the family on a light 7.74 oz body. It is the most polarizing Q2 and the one we would recommend to the fewest people, because 7.5 control and 7.8 forgiveness are real costs.
If your hands are clean and you want the hottest Q2, this is it. Most players will be happier with the widebody or the flat-top hybrid.
Price, and how to use code PRH at RPM
Every Q2 shape lists at $249.99. Enter PRH at rpmpb.com and it drops to $212.49 — 15% off, the same on all four shapes.
It is a standing partner code rather than a seasonal sale, so it does not expire. The same code works on RPM's Friction Pro and Jade lines. Full details are on our RPM promo code page.
Which RPM should you buy?
- Most players, best RPM overall: Q2 Widebody 16mm at $212.49 with PRH.
- Middle shape, more reach: Q2 Hybrid Flat Top.
- Maximum reach and serve leverage: Q2 Elongated.
- Hottest, fastest, least forgiving: Q2 Hybrid Rounded Top.
- More stability and a 14mm option — see the Friction Pro V2 comparison, which includes the highest twist weight RPM makes (7.2).
- Newest RPM — the Jade line, $229.49 with PRH. It does not outscore the Q2 widebody.
Final verdict
Most players should buy the Q2 Widebody 16mm. It is RPM's best paddle by our scoring, it is the most forgiving and the fastest in its own family at the same time, and it costs the same $212.49 with code PRH as the three shapes it beats.
Go flat-top hybrid if you want a little more reach, elongated if you want a lot more, and rounded-top hybrid only if you specifically want the hottest Q2 and can live with the margin it gives up.
