Engage X2 Compared: Widebody vs Elongated vs X2 Pro (2026)
Last updated: September 2026
Same quad-density foam, three very different swing weights.
The Engage X2 Elongated is our top Engage pick at 9.25 overall — the best power (9.3) and pop (9.1) in the line on a manageable 115 swing weight. Take the X2 Widebody (9.05) if you play doubles: it has a 7.1 twist weight against the elongated's 6.0, and the best control (9.2), forgiveness (9.1) and hand speed (9.3) of the three. The X2 Pro (8.95) spins hardest by a clear margin at 2,373 RPM, but swings 124.3 and is UPA-A only, where the other two are USAP approved as well. All three list at $259.99 and cost about $234 with code PRH at Engage (10% off).

Pick the elongated if
You want the default X2 — the shape most retailers and pros highlight, and the one that scores highest here at 9.25. Extra reach, head-heavy drive depth, and serve speed in the low-60 MPH class.
It is also the balanced choice within the line. At 115 swing weight it is far more playable than the X2 Pro's 124.3, and its 9.3 power is the best of the three. The cost is a 6.0 twist weight and 8.2 forgiveness — the elongated shape asks for cleaner contact than the widebody does.
Pick the widebody if
You play mostly doubles, want fast hands at the kitchen, and value stability on blocks and speed-ups. Its 7.1 twist weight is more than a full point above the elongated's, and it turns into the best control (9.2), forgiveness (9.1) and maneuverability (9.3) scores in the line while holding spin near 2,290 RPM.
You give up 0.4 of power and some reach. For kitchen-heavy doubles that is a trade worth making, and the widebody is the X2 we would hand to most club players.
Pick the X2 Pro only if you know what 124 swing weight feels like
The X2 Pro is the grittiest paddle Engage makes: 2,373 RPM and a 9.4 spin score, both clearly ahead of the other two, which sit around 2,285. If spin is the single thing you are buying for, it delivers.
The price is paid in swing weight. At 124.3 and very head-heavy, it is a truck — 7.2 maneuverability is the lowest score anywhere in this comparison, and you will feel it every time you are late to a speed-up. Forgiveness drops to 8.0 as well.
One more thing that decides it for some people: the X2 Pro is UPA-A only in our data, while the standard elongated and widebody are USAP approved as well. If you play USAP-sanctioned events, that rules it out. Our default Engage recommendation stays the standard X2 elongated.
X2 or Axiom?
Engage's Axiom line sits below the X2 at $199.99, or $179.99 with the same PRH code — $54 less than an X2. It scores 8.7 elongated and 8.65 widebody against the X2's 9.25 and 9.05, so you are genuinely paying for the difference rather than paying for a badge.
Our Axiom vs X2 comparison covers that decision in full. Short version: buy the Axiom if $234 is above your line, the X2 elongated if it is not.
Price, and how to use code PRH at Engage

Which Engage X2 shape is best?
The X2 Elongated at 9.25 overall — the best power (9.3) and pop (9.1) in the line. The X2 Widebody is 9.05 and is the better doubles paddle thanks to a 7.1 twist weight and class-leading control, forgiveness and hand speed. The X2 Pro is 8.95 with the most spin but a very heavy 124.3 swing weight.
Which Engage X2 shape is better for spin?
The X2 Pro, and not by a small margin — 2,373 RPM against roughly 2,285 for the standard elongated and widebody. Between those two, spin is effectively tied, so choose on swing weight and court position instead.
Is the Engage X2 USAP approved?
