The Engage X2 Widebody is a 16" × 8" Gen 4 foam paddle with quad-density core architecture, ~2,290 RPM spin, swing weight ~111, and twist weight ~7.1 in our measurement pass. It trades elongated reach for hand speed and stability. It's our pick when doubles and reset-heavy games are the priority. $259.99 stock or ~$234 with code PRH at engagepickleball.com/PRH.
The Verdict
Engage's kitchen-speed X2: a wide face for when you want twist weight over reach.
My brother kept reaching for this one at the kitchen. Wide face, swing weight in the low 111s, and twist weight that forgives real-world mishits.

On-Court Feel
Contact is dense and deliberate, not snappy-honeycomb sharp. On the first session, dinks felt predictable once we stopped trying to absorb everything. The foam holds the ball a beat longer than raw thermoformed carbon, which helps placement when you brush through the ball instead of punching.
At the kitchen, blocks stayed down when prep was clean, and speed-ups had enough pop to finish without the elongated swing-weight tax. Spin shows on full swings and roll dinks after a quick face wipe; the micro-weave carbon is average texture class, so bite is strong but not long-life grit like Crystal Blue Endurance.
Compared with the X2 Elongated, you give up a little serve pace and head-heavy plow-through but gain twist weight stability and faster hand battles. Compared with Friday Aura Pro widebody at $159 with PRH, the X2 costs more but feels plusher in the foam pocket and carries USAP + UPA-A on this shape.
Performance & Testing
The Engage X2 Widebody went through our standard on-court protocol - drills, rec play, and at least one tournament match. How it plays reflects consensus feedback from the group, not a single reviewer's opinion.
Grit & Durability
Full-foam perimeter and fiberglass weighting are built for stability, not peel-ply peak grit. Expect solid early bite that smooths over dozens of hours, typical for micro-weave carbon at this price. Engage backs the line with a limited lifetime warranty against manufacturer defects, which is a real plus at $260 MSRP.
Who It's For
Aggressive doubles players stepping into Gen 4 foam who want Engage's flagship architecture without SW 115+ elongated feel.
Skip if you need maximum singles reach, the absolute longest-lasting grit surface on the market, or budget-first value. Enhance and Friday Aura lines hit lower price points with PRH; Honolulu Crystal Blue still leads our endurance-grit ladder if texture life is your #1 priority.

Bottom Line
The doubles specialist in the X2 line: fast, spin-capable, and forgiving when you do not need elongated reach.
If your bag already has an elongated X2 for pace, widebody is the kitchen backup, not the default shape most players buy first.
