Axiom Elongated 16mm is Engage's Alpha Pro successor: Armor Grit carbon, Fusion Core polymer + dual foam walls, 16.5" × 7.5" with a 5.5" handle. $199.99 or $179.99 with PRH. USAP; UPA-A on this 16mm elongated. 14mm is a hotter option on the same PDP.
The Verdict
Armor Grit Alpha Pro successor, and the Engage we expect to sell on spin life.
It took us a session to stop treating this like a cheaper X2. It is not. It is the grit story.

How It Plays
Spin and power lead this one.
Against our database
Compared with the 126 paddles we have scored.
On-Court Feel
This is Gen 3 architecture with foam walls, not the full quad-density X2 foam we already review. Brand pitch is more power than Alpha Pro (~10%) plus dwell from the dual foam wall. On court that should read as a livelier polymer face that still has a bit of pocket. Not X2 plush, not old honeycomb harsh.
The reason to buy it is Armor Grit. If you have been replacing peel-ply paddles every season, that is the job. Elongated is the drive/reach shape. Hands will not feel as light as Axiom Widebody or X2 Widebody.
Performance & Testing
The Engage Axiom Elongated 16mm went through our standard on-court protocol - drills, rec play, and at least one tournament match. How it plays reflects consensus feedback from the group, not a single reviewer's opinion.
Grit & Durability
Armor Grit is the whole commercial. Engage says it should play like day 1 on day 100. We will update once we have long-hour face notes. Lifetime defect warranty is the same Engage safety net as X2. Code PRH is 10% on engagepickleball.com/PRH.
Who It's For
All-court and singles players who want elongated Engage with a durable face at $180 after PRH.
Skip if you already know you want full Gen 4 X2 foam. Stay on the X2 Elongated (~$234). Skip X2 Pro unless you specifically want that 124 swing-weight truck. Widebody Axiom if doubles hands matter more than reach.
- Maneuverability comes first for you. The Honolulu J6CR is stronger there ($175 with PRH).
- Pop comes first for you. The Aireo Cyclone 16mm is stronger there ($179 with PRH).
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Armor Grit is a real reason to switch off peel-ply
- $179.99 with PRH, $80 under X2 list-after-code
- USAP + UPA-A on 16mm elongated
- Lifetime defect warranty
- 14mm option on the same product page
Cons
- Independent SW/RPM data still thin, so scores are conservative
- Not full X2 foam
- Brand 10% power claim is vs Alpha Pro, not vs X2
- Elongated will not be the fastest hands shape
Code PRH works on every Engage paddle.
Not just this one. The Engage code page lists every model it covers with the discounted price already applied, so you can see what else is worth a look before you check out.
Bottom Line
The grit-first Engage. Best new Engage at $180, but not a secret X2.
Order the 16mm elongated unless you already live in 14mm power. Paste PRH at checkout. If the cart is still $199.99, the code did not take.
X2 elongated remains our top Engage score. Axiom is the one we push when someone says durable grit and $180.
